Hey. Thanks for all the advice.
I will get the ignition
timing tuned some time, and also if i see anything with a later 1275
a-series in a scrapyard i will be sure to pull the ignition system from
it.
Hmm, i got a quote from an engineering company to convert my
12g295 to unleaded, and it was like £250+vat, and thats if i provide my
own replacement exhaust valves. Skimmin was also extra. So i thought
screw it, i would rather run it on valvemaster. £100? That sounds more
like it. Any recomendations for good companies to do that?
Apparintly,
all lead replacement additives are basically crap, exept Castrol
Valvemaster, which actually works. People who run all sorts of old
preformance vehicles told me to use that specific additive and it will
definetly work well. I dont knoweither way, this is the first time iv
SEEN, let alone owned, a leaded cilynder head.
However, i am led
to believe that all this will be worth it, because a real genuine
12g295 is veeery impressive compared to a stock head. I put in alot of
effort to find one, and ended up trackign this one down and paying £100
for it without a second thought. I hope it will be worth it.
Hers
a shot of the interior of the car by the way. It has the wooden,
3-instrument dash (including a tacho, which is cool i suppose). Plus iv
added a volt meter, which can just be seen behind the keys, under the
dash next to the switch panel. Its mouted in a pod screwd underneath
the dash. The switch panel has the real fog lamp switch and the front
spot lamp switch (if the switch is on, all 4 spot lamps turn on when
main beam is on).
The 2 meters above the radio are vacuum and oil
pressure. Although when the picture was taken, i put an old ammeter in
there, because i didnt have the oil pressure guage yet, and i just put
in the ammeter to fill the hole. It wasnt connected to anything.
Now
i have a smiths classic oil pressure gauge in there, but i dont like
it. Its very dim. Iv put in a 5W light bulb, and pushed the bulb as far
as i can without it touching the internal components and stopping the
guage from working. And its still so dim that i can even see the
numbers at night. I am thinking of putting a full-face oil pressure
gauge in there instead.
I still want an oil temeperature guage too. But i really dont know where to put it! Im sure i will figure it out sometime tho. im thinking next to the air vent on the drivers side of the dash. It would need abit of surgery, because thats where the bracket that holds the dash bord on fits at the moment. But im sure its possible. Ill have to slightly alter the dash mouting bracket.
